Sport and Recreation Funding Review - Have your say
Sport and Recreation Services, Department of Communities are conducting a review of their funding programs. This includes endeavouring to seek input based on the Department's new priorities of:
- achieving the Q2 targets to healthy (Qlder's healthiest state by 2020) and fair (increase by 50% the number of volunteers);
- better targeting of identified groups such as children, at risk, multi-cultural groups;
- implementing needs based funding allocations;
- helping to build the capacity of the sport and recreation industry.
If you have applied for funding from the Department in the most recent rounds, you will have received this information separately. However, there are many outdoor recreation organisations who have historically not been eligible for funding, or who have not thought they would be recipients. To cater to these two groups, there are two surveys available on the Sport and Recreation Services website:
The first survey is for those who have applied for funding (whether successful or not in receiving support); and the second is for those who have not applied or not been eligible to apply. We would encourage as many of you as possible to complete these surveys to demonstrate the interest the recreation sector has in being able to access funding. It is only if we have a presence that we can profile the expanse of the outdoor industry and also have the capacity to drive forward the industry and its services. It is our understanding the QORF will also be able to make a separate submission to the Review process separate to the survey completion. This is most likely to take the form of responding to set questions on a proforma, but once the details of those questions are available, we will notify you to seek your input to help build our response. The timelines are very short on this process. Please find below a flyer explaining the review process and notice of industry consultation meetings you might be able to attend. Dr Donna E. Little (Chief Executive Officer)
