Seqwater Draft Recreation Management Framework completed
The Seqwater Draft Recreation Management Framework has been completed and now available for public comment.
The draft framework provides Seqwater with a decision making tool to assess recreation activities into the future. It does not provide a list of suggested changes. Any recommendations for changes to recreation activities and settings will be made subsequently and will be considered against this framework. Any changes to permitted recreation activities would be implemented through an appropriate change management process including further consultation with parties affected.
The management framework and the supporting recommendations have been developed through consultation with over 80 clubs, sporting bodies and associations, and local and state government authorities.
QORF encourages all interested individuals and organisations to make a submission, and/or to forward their comments to QORF to inform the submission we will make to Seqwater.
A summary of the draft Recreation Management Framework can be viewed at http://www.seqwater.com.au
The framework will be open for public comment until close of business on Monday 5 October 2009
Submissions can be made by: Email: recreation@seqwater.com.au or Write to: Recreation Feedback PO Box 68 Petrie, QLD 4502
Please return any feedback or comments to QORF at info@qorf.org.au no later than 29 September 2009

Who Is Responsible?
So what are the cross Government & Non-Government Agency responsibilities for Outdoor Recreation in Queensland?
|
Outdoor Recreation is diverse in activity, outcome and location. At a State and Local Government level, there has never been any single department taking responsibility for outdoor recreation interests. (However in recent times Sport and Recreation Services did appoint a Principal Project Manager to deal with Outdoor Recreation Issues.)
To enhance all our understandings of the different roles State Government Departments, Local/ Regional Councils, Government Owned Corporations and Non Government/ Community Based Organisations play in the delivery of outdoor recreation, the attached spreadsheet is made available.
This document was provided following a request we made to the Minister for Infrastructure and Planning for an inside view of the cross government responsiblities for outdoor recreation. With the role the Department of Infrastructure and Planning are playing in the development of the SEQ Outdoor Recreation Strategy and SEQ Greenspace Strategy, we felt they would be well placed to advise us in this matter.
Our thanks to the Minister, Stirling Hinchliffe for his support and to the staff of the Department of Infrastructure and Planning for this information.
|
Further to this, the Labor Response to Policy Proposal document is the current State Governments response to our policy proposal presented to both sides of government prior to the last State Election.
This highlights the governments commitments to Outdoor Recreation delivery and research, and forms the basis of some of our conversations with State Government.
